Warm and Cool colors. The assignment we were given was to choose some form of edible object and draw it once using warm colors and once using cool colors. Studying the warm and cool colors was really fun. Creating shadows was harder in the the warm colored picture, while still keeping the overall warm feeling of the piece. I think the cool colored piece turned out much better than the first (warm colors). Once I got the hang of the medium and the color changes, it became much easier and funner to draw.

Edward Hopper. In many of his paintings he uses analogous colors which tend to lean towards the cool feeling or the warm feeling. They are fabulous.
